MindTwistAbout

Twist your iPad to solve the game!

The following chapters give a short introduction about Mind Twist, how to play and what would be probably the best strategy.

About Mind Twist

Mind Twist is an easy to play strategic game for the Apple iPad. The goal is to remove all (or as may as possible) of the colored tiles of in the playing field. Tiles that are surrounded by one or more tiles with the same color can be removed by touching any tile in the group.

The more tiles of the same color you remove at once, the more points you get. To achieve different tile layouts, frequently rotate ("twist") your iPad to rearrange the tiles! The game is over, when all tiles are removed or no tiles could be removed anymore.

How To Play

Tiles are removed by touching a tile that is surrounded (top, bottom, left, right, not diagonal!) by one or more tiles with the same color as the touched tile. The tiles of the same color are removed from the playing field and, if the removed tiles were surrounded by other tiles, these other tiles obey the gravity and fall down to fill the area of the before removed tiles.

Mind Twist uses iPads Accelerometer to detect rotation! Rotate your iPad to rearrange the tiles on the playing field. On rotation, the tiles "fall" down to the new bottom side of the playing field - according to the gravity. Using this feature is important, because you can achieve new combinations of the tiles to remove and possibly get a higher score.

You get points for all removed tiles. The more tiles you manage to remove at once, the more points you get. The points are calculated using the following schema:

For the more curious, the mathematical formula to compute the amount of points for removed tiles is:

PointsFormular

Were k is the number of removed tiles.

If you manage to remove all of the tiles from the playing field, you get a extra bonus of 100.000 points!

The game is over when all tiles are removed or no tiles could be removed anymore. Mind Twist detects automatically whether the game is over. In the latter case, when no tiles could be removed anymore, you might come to a tile layout on the playing filed that looks like no tiles could be removed anymore - but Mind Twist does not end the game. Remember: by rotating the playing field, new tile combinations occur and the game continues!

Strategy

Because the initial layout of the tiles on the playing field is based on random calculations, the initial conditions of the game depends on your fortune. This weights most in the "Medium" and "Hard" difficulty setting of Mind Twist. You will find that you rarely manage to remove all the tiles in the "Medium" and "Hard" difficulty setting (see Game Options).

However, you will get more points when you adhere the following hints:

Try to remove the tiles of one color at once, because you are able to remove the remaining items in larger groups per color.

Rotate ("twist") you iPad frequently to see, whether other orientations offer a better possibility to remove larger blocks of equal colored tiles.

Avoid to remove all but one tile of a color, because you will not be able to remove that one remaining tile anymore.

Game Options

Using the "Options Menu" of Mind Twist, you can customize the game.

Using the Game Difficulty Segmentation Control, you can alter the complexity factor of the game.

In difficulty level "Easy", the playing field is build up with tiles in four different colors:

TileYellowTileRedTileGreenTileBlue

In level "Medium" six colors are used:

TileYellow1TileRed1TileGreen1TileBlue1TileOrangeTileGray

And in difficulty level "Hard" eight colors:

TileYellow1aTileRed1aTileGreen1aTileBlue1aTileOrange1TileGray1TilePinkTileTurquoise

Changes to the game difficulty will take effect the next time you start a new game!

With the two Volume Sliders of the Sound Settings you can alter the volume of the music that is played when Mind Twists menus are displayed and the volume of the music that is played during the game play.

And finally, using the Background Image selector, you can customize the background image that is displayed behind the tiles of the playing field.

That's it. Have a lot of fun playing Mind Twist and good luck!
